It is not true, any heat styling will damage your hair. You need to make sure that you are using a thermal styling product to help protect your hair from the heat. One product is Spray Starch #15
by Redken, there are many others out there if you don't like Redken. Take small section when flat ironing, this will help you straighten it easier. One of the nicest flat irons to use is the ceramic CHI irons, CHI also has a line of products to help you. Ask your stylist for help, he or she should be able to help you.

I'm a hairdresser and flat iron, straighteners whatever you want to call them do damage your hair the dry out your cause split ends and causes the hair to break or fall out when over stressed and damages.
You can get great irons like GHD or CERAMIC TECH they do lock the moisture in your hair, and always always use heat resistant products before straighting like straighting balm FUDGE do a good one so to TIGI

There is no such thing as an iron that doesn't damage your hair. It's the products that you use to protect your hair from heat damage that is the key.

Good luck

Visit your local Sally's beauty supply to get assistance in choosing the appropriate products for heat styling. They even have water-proof products for hair now.

Not true. they may have been talking about ceramic iron which is supposed to be less damaging but heat damages your hair to some degree not matter what. It just goes along with the territory.

they all damage but so does coloring your hair...find a flat iron with SOLID ceramic plates....many are just dipped in ceramic and when the dipped part wears your hair is exposedd to the metal. Paul Mitchell's Smoothing iron is solid, it's expensive buttt worth it. it also has a heat setting.

Ok I love flat irons but I have to admit, they all damage your hair. Don't be afraid to use one though. Before you straighten your hair put some kind of protectent on it. ok....

Look for one with ceramic plates, and always use with some type of hair serum to protect your hair from the heat. Also don't use it everyday, perhaps just a couple times a week.

now, if i understand your question and the movement you are to make -- all that without a will written-- you are about to test your hair under flat iron. i suggest you call first 911 to tell them your intention and then proceed to write a will and thereafter -- make a definite, immediate appointment with a "head practioner, i.e. psychiatrist" ...i rest my case. your case is still open.
ps. hair, iron, yes it damages --no doubt about it.
