They would even go to such extremes as to threaten someones life or send hatemail. Truly sad individuals don't you think?

True but in this case some are offended equally by Christians and atheists attempting to be cheerful and kind.

Some people think in stereotypes, and those stereotypes will usually involve thinking that someone of a particular background (like a Christian, atheist, Muslim or whatever you fancy) is really a two-face like the previous people of the same background that they've met or heard about (the guy before me is a good example).
It can also be that these people think that others who share joy and love are too nice to be real, regardless of their background...

They are not necessarily sad... nor are they really to blame for what they think. Its just how they see the world, based on their own knowledge and experience.

Because not everyone's definition of shedding joy and love is the same. A religious person might try to share his religion and claim he is 'shedding joy and love', while someone non-religious would be offended by this. A scientist might try to explain the theories of the Big Bang or evolution, while a creationist would find his whole worldview threatened.

I don't know if you have been in this forum before, but you must have thick skin to survive in here. I made the mistake of coming here thinking it would be mostly Christians sharing thoughts & ideas with one another, it turned out to be more of a debate on "who is right"... and many people are not very tolernat of opposing views and some are downright nasty. I wish Yahoo would break this forum down into more specific forums. Until then try to disregard the hate... take want you want and leave the rest.

describe spread joy and love....

is it the love of God that you are talking about, having people force their belief's about God into our lives. I am not threatened by it, I am discouraged when people do not respect that I chose not to believe what they believe.

But someone sending hatemail and threatening lives is wrong in every sense of the word. I hope this is not something that is happening to you.

Your Church has a long history of shedding joy and love. The Holy Inquisition caused thousands of mostly women to be killed as witches, the murder and forced conversions of Jews, the papal wars where a Cardinal told the Papal General that it was to hard to separate the heretics from the "true believers" in a French town, so "kill them all and God can sort it out later." and on , and on , and on ..............................

Totally! I think that they have trust issues or have been hurt by their parents during their youth. They are bitter and won't let anyone in. I would say they are lost causes, but I don't give up. They can't stand to see anyone happy, why is that? It is very, very sad. It is probably jealousy. They want what we have and that makes them angry. Don't give up! Spread the love!

Bad people and good people exist in most religious groups/beliefs. The only problem I have with beliefs is if they hurt people, are pushed on me, etc. I am on YA for fun. I don't understand why people take it that far.

I'd say they have got some serious anger issues. They don't know how to debate in a friendly way, and the slightest disagreement just makes them mad, and they don't know how to handle it.
