We have to build something for physics that will launch a tomato. And the plans have to be simple and free. Any sites ya'll can suggest?

I would also take a look through Trebuchet.com -- although they are set up to SELL plans (usually very affordable) there are enough pictures to figure it out on your own, such as:

You'll need to follow a lot of links but there should be enough free information there to figure out the parts of the design that aren't obvious just in the pictures.

The part you will need to research the most is the issue of weight ratios -- how much of a counterwqeight is needed for maximum transfer of energy to the projectile.
