The Republicans really do not want the draft. We have been meeting or exceeding in some places our recruiting numbers. So no need to put people through the stress of the draft. Those in the Military today are there because they chose to be. Much nicer atmosphere. The draft should used as a last resort.

How's this?

A mandatory draft is coming and it will come soon. Make no mistake about it. If you have a 'specialty' field such as health care worker or even computer skills (such as a degree in computer science), you could be 'drafted' into government service up to the age limit of 44 years old. You will have no choice in the matter as the Presidential Executive Order has already been signed and has become the "law", without the messy annoyance of congressional voting or debate, of course. The new age limit of conscription will also be pushed up to 36 years (update: June 2006. now changed to 42 years ) of age, not 26 years as was the traditional limit. They have now tied in Selective Service Registration with applying for a driver's licence in some 34 states so far.

All the articles posted on that web site are written by educate-yourself correspondents. That means the site is useless.
Having just come from running recruiting, I can tell you first hand, from the mouth of Congress, that there will not be a draft anywhere in the future. Yes, it has been talked about in closed door sessions, but it was unsupported by almost all. The voluntary system is working well with all services meeting their recruiting objectives. Recruiting objectives go out through fiscal year 2007 (Sep 30, 2006). This means we have enough people enlisting to maintain our current strength through this date and we are already working on FY2008. I suggest you quit reading propaganda posted from single scope writers!!

Currently military enlistment quotas are being met. Hopefully we wont have a draft. Maybe we could give illegal immigrants a way to become american citizens by serving our military as many of their legal friends have done. If we have a draft wheres anyone gonna run. Mexico. Canada. Not gonna be that easy this time.
One good thing though. The military is not looking for disfunctional, emotionally disturbed or other wise malfunctioning humans. But that could change...

The President, Congress, DOD and the US Military DO NOT want a draft and I do not see a draft in the future because so far the ALL-VOLUNTEER concept is working real good.

We need a draft. We are at war, and it is going to be a long one.
I support a draft.
BTW
At the present time a draft can take many different forms. Don't think that because you are getting drafted that you are going to ship out to the desert a fewmonths later.
