Its a habit but every morning when i get out of the shower i grab a q-tip to clean my ears. I dont go all hard but nice enough to remove and cleaning that should be taken care of.

I ave heard however that it is not safe for the ears..

should i stop? and if so then how should i clean my ears?

Your ears are self cleaning. Never use a q-tip as your hand could slip and puncture your ear drum. Your ears need a small amount of wax to help trap dirt and debris that can get into your ears. The wax normally comes out on it's own. Any other cleaning of the ear can be done with a washcloth. Going any deeper than what a washcloth does is dangerous. If you feel like your ears are getting clogged with wax then use derbox aka carbamide peroxide drops you can get at your drug section of any store to help soften the wax so it comes out. For more serious wax problems see your doc.

using a q-tip pushes the ear wax further inside the ear canal. use some mineral oil for three days, put four drops in each ear and put some cotton in each ear. then on the fourth day get a bulb syringe and flush out each ear several times with warm water. it will remove the old ear wax. good luck!

You're supposed to just use a corner of a towel but everyone uses a Q-Tip. It could break your eardrum but usually that only happens if someone slams the door open into your elbow or something and it really gets shoved in.

it's safe as long you don't shove in the Q-tip in your ear as it can push in the earwax deeper or you can pucture your eardrum. usually bathing takes care of cleaninng your ears, but don't do too often

As long as you don't shove it into your eardrum you're fine.
