sorry this is not a quick one to do but it stays in my daughters hair for about 3 days and since Ive been doing it she has not once had any head lice (another mum's nightmare)
i separate it down the middle (like your doing bunches) then each side i separate into 3 sections (top, middle and bottom) then off each section i do 3 plaits. This always stays in and everyone friends, other mums and teachers alike always comment on how good it looks. it takes about 10-20 minutes depending on how much they sit still!!
good luck

Try this. You will need 3 small elasticated bands. They come in all colours and textures. There are baubles, teddy bears, animals etc. easy to buy. Take a section of hair from the top and sides and tie with band just like a pony tail. Take a second section and tie the hair with band below incorporating the first section. Repeat with third band at neck level. It is much easier to do than trying to explain. All the hair is tied back with the three decorative little bands in a line down the back of the head. There are so many pretty little bands you can mix and match the colours or animals. I have even seen some bands with Santas and snowmen. I am not talking hair bands. But bands about the size of an elastic band. Supermarkets and chemists. Good luck

Grab all of her hair and pull up into a high, top of her head, pony tail look like Pebbles Flinstone. Take any loose hairs on the side of her face and curl them. Put a big clip on the top of the elastic. She'll look cute and adorable. What matters at her age is comfort and practicality, with less fuss and expense. Don't fall for the fashion trap when she is so young to begin with. Time for that much later!!

My daughter didn't have any hair until she was three, and then it was so fine, it looked like she didn't have any! so i used to put the front up in pretty hairbands, the ones with dice, flowers and barbie on them, just to pretty them up... now she five, and hair half way down her back, and i do french brades down either side, the more practise u get the quicker u get, so sitting down for her wont be a problem... takes me bout 4 minutes in the morning to do..
or, pull back the front section and plat that,
or, clip back the fringe
or, ponytail then plat
Pretty but simple:

Lucky you, my daughter is just past 2 and has no hair! Have you ever tried a bun? my neice used to love for me to put her hair in one, and leave a few peices down to curl. if braiding is out because of your confidence, try pulling the top section of hair back into a ponytail, and braiding that. We used to do it, and add a few flowers on ribbons to the braid. The flowers were pretty, and the ribbon kept them in, as well as being cute. with my daughter I got very small ponytail holders and attached curled cloth ribbons to them, so that along with her curls she had ribbons that matched her outfits. If you like these ideas, and/or want more just let me know!

In my opinion just pull all her hair and put ot in a pony tail on top of her head. This is adorable and easy. Also with just a little bit more time pig tails are the cutest =]

Forget cool hairstyles for school. Yes it needs to be tidy, and the best hairdo for school is Platts, especially as she has long hair. That way she has less chance of getting the dreaded NITS.
All the best.
Sorry to put a dampen on it, the thought of NITS, yuk.
