I'm surprised you are having trouble. Usually students get bombarded with credit card offers. You should be able to apply for a Visa card on line, but I want to warn you credit cards can be trouble. Be care full in how you choose to use it and make sure you don't have a large sending limit. If you can pay off the balance in full every month. Just try searching for Visa and you should have no problem from there. Good Luck.

I thought WaMu had Visa? That's who I had a cc with for a long time. If not, go to Citicards.com and apply online for one. Or Chase.com I prefer Chase, since I've had some bad gigs with Citi. Opt for one that has as low an interest rate as possible, and remember one thing: Don't spend more than what you can pay off in a month's time. In other words: Credit cards are not blank checks. They are a LOAN. And as with all loans they accrue interest when you don't pay them off on time. That means that you have 30 days to pay for what you bought, or instead of paying $30 for that cool new box set you will be paying $32 after one month, and every month you don't pay the full amount you end up paying more and more on that original $30 purchase. You'd probably be better off with no credit card at all, if you want my honest opinion. I wish I could finish paying mine off and be done with the little plastic death traps!

you just keep applying to credit card companies until someone gives you a credit card. Alot of credit card companies charge a yearly fee, especially if you have no credit. As long as you pay off the entire balance every month, you will not pay any interest.

If you are trying to build your credit, make a partial payment about 90 days at least. If you pay the full amount it does not help your credit. You are trying to let creditors know that you can pay a bill on time each over a period of time
