The skin under my lower lip goes through a cycle of being really dry and/or itchy, with the skin breaking or the top layer of skin peeling off.

I've changed chapsticks, switched lotions, tried exfoliating, putting on Neosporin, drinking more water and using a humidifier.

It's been like this from mid-August to now, although it seems to be getting better. Suggestions?

are you working out in the sun? are you getting enough water to drink? no not soda or tea- water!!! and fyi- sometimes the chemicles in the chapstick(namely petroleum) can aggravate this condition- hit a health food store for a good one- lower lip only? do you bite your nails- or chew your lip? try vitamin e oil on it- could be the sweat from your upper lip may be giving it the lub it needs so as not to peel- drink more water!!!! and lay off the french fries and salty foods

This time of year the heat is on in the house and tends to dry your skin. lips, elbows and hands should be creamed daily to stay soft.

drink more water to hydrate yourself. lack of water will help dry your skin and hair
