I have about 1/2-3/4 of a 46 oz. skein of white acrylic yarn left over. I made a bath mat and two shower loofas and still have a lot of yarn left over. What should I make out of the rest? Any clothes or more things for the home? Need some nifty ideas. Thanks

You can scrounge other left over yarns from friends - garage sales-- make a afghan in what I call Mexican Hat. No, I don't know why-- multi yarn colors-- not multi color single hanks--- chain oh-- maybe 325 stitches with a G or H hook -- leave a "tail" before your first stitch of at least 8 inches-- at the end of your chain-- also leave 8 inches after pulling thru the last chain.
Go back to the beginning of your chain-TAKING ANOTHER COLOR-- leaving a 8 inch tail, single crochet ( 1st stitch) in the first chain and single crochet 8 stitches across (for a total of 9). Crochet a "dropped" stitch by double crocheting INTO the last line at the edge( count 10) and then single crochet into another 9 stitches, then double crochet in stitch 10. This is the pattern-- you move the dropped stitch forward on each row-- with your "dropped" stitches in the NEXT stitch after the previous dropped stitch-i.e. the third row will count two single crochet then drop a double crochet, then single crochet 9 stitches-- look at your work here-- if you counted wrong you can see how to adjust-- pull out and redo. - what you will have is many diagonal lines thru your afghan in a diamond pattern--by repeating the dropped stitch every tenth stitch.-- When you start a new row-- start a new color-- count back from the first dropped stitch on the previous row-- that will tell you how many single crochet stitches to do before dropping that double crochet. You have noticed it's all in 10 stitches-- 9 single, 1 double drop.
I sincerely hope this is clear-- it is the most simple afgan I've ever made-- Watch your ends so that your ending stitch is even on every row.

To finish-- using the tails-- decide how you want your fringe to look-- I usually overhand loosely knot two strands across-- then return to the beginning and choose two OTHER strands to overhand knot-- just do a few and decide what look you want-- when you've decided-- do both ends and you're done!.

Size?? as many rows as you want to make-Length? that 325 is long enough for a tall man on the sofa- try it on a twin bed-- or full-- what ever size you want-- if you'll use it on the sofa-- drape it there to see if that's what you want.

I hope this is fun for you-- I've made several and given them for gifts-- there is time for Christmas!!
good luck

I 've also done this pattern in specific colors-- that's neat, too.
