Soak it in clorox. This should take away the stain and kill all the germs

First of all, NEVER mix vinegar and bleach or ammonia and bleach!
(Fumes are toxic)
These are various methods that others have tried:
1) Lay the item(s) in the sun to dry.
2) Paste of baking soda and water.
3) Vinegar and cream of tartar.
4) Lemon juice with vinegar and/or baking soda to make a paste.

You might try some vinegar in your bowl (plastic spoon included), and microwave for a couple of minutes. Set bowl with spoon - covered with paper towel - on counter for about 5 minutes, to keep the steam in the bowl.
