Well your mistake was to handle everything when you first moved
in together. You should of said something in the beginning like
we can take turns doing the dishes or throwing out the trash.
If both of you are working parents then both of you should have the same responsibility at home. A women should never have to go to work, clean the house and take care of the children on her
own. Now if that was the case then your better off single. If he grew up not having to do anything at his home with his parents
then you should of broke that habit. Now you say you have two
boys, then you better start making them clean up after them
selves as soon as they turn 3 yrs. old. At that age they can start
picking up their toys and as they get older give them a little more
to do. This way they will be ready for when they become bachelors. Now sit down with your husband and have a talk with
him and tell him to at least clean up after himself. Like washing his own clothes (theirs nothing wrong with that). Help washing
the dishes, you know you catch my drift.

Couple of ideas. One, start by having him help you with some of the chores so he gets a real sense of what you are up against. Write up a simple contract: you take care of this, he does that. Thank him every time he does something; make it noticeable to him that you not only need his help, but appreciate it. Do some projects (floor mopping/bathroom cleaning together; make it something you laugh about together as you do it. How are those?

Suggest that if he doesn't you might have to ask that very charming young rich fellow with the nice car that lives just down the road from you to come to help you when he (your man) is away at work.

Explain to him what it is like to be in your shoes and how a little help would really mean a lot to you. Without being really pushy. If you aren't already, maybe you can try taking an interest in what he does so he feels like you are making the extra effort as well.

Stop doing his laundry. I bet he'll learn to load the washing machine when he wakes up and has no clothes to wear. :)
