The best source for legal info regarding homeschooling is the HSLDA. The next best thing is your state group.
After that, look for a local group - they can give you both support and advice (including curriculum, field trips, clubs/groups, park days, etc.)

I too live in Missouri and it seems we may have the most lax of all the state laws out there on homeschooling. You will have to keep records of what you have taught and the work your child has done, any trips that you take that may be of educational value etc. The law states that you MAY have to notify the school district or the county in which you live, if your child is already enrolled in school you need to let them know you are homeschooling as to not have them process truancy against you.
