The size of a pixel is not related to the size of the CCD. We set the size of a pixel by chosing how many pixels per inch (ppi) we want in a version of the image. This can be changed with photo editing software. For example, if we chose 72 ppi, each pixel will be 1/72 of an inch wide; if we change it to 300 ppi, each pixel will be 1/300 of an inch.

The size of the CCD does impact the size of the light sensors on the CCD. However, there may also be a difference in the amount of space between light sensors, so you cannot determine the size of the light sensors just from the size of the CCD.

Good Luck

A pixel is simply a storage block for a color and location of that color. Depending on the resolution of the picture and the resolution of the screen, the pixel can be anysize. It has nothing to do with the CCD, except that the CCD has the capability of converting light into digital images UP TO 4 megapixels. The camera can be set-up so that the charged coupled device only converts images to 2 megapixels.
