I feel like my glasses are affecting my dating life. What should I do? My prescription is kind of high where I can't get lasik, and I hear that contacts, over time, increase your prescription even more. Plus, I kind of look kiddish without glasses, and i kind of have some bags under my eyes.

I'm not that shy or anything, i'm pretty outgoing and straightforward. What i mean is that girls aren't attracted to me as much, and my personality doesn't get to show through because they just can't get past the glasses.

Well try some new frames. Go with someone you know who will tell you what looks good on you. Try some contacts. Maybe even some with colour. Doesn't mean you have to wear them all the time. You can switch inbetween the two. Try a new hairstyle. Ask a girl you know if she can give you a mini make-over. Girls love doing that kinda stuff. Maybe she can give you a new idea of what looks good on you.

Take your glasses off more often and rest your eyes with a cool compress when you can. Cucumber crushed or in slices will help smooth out your under eyes. You may also need a bit of sun on your eyes...glasses tend to shade that area. Try sitting in the sun for 20 minutes with your glasses off. Bags under eyes at a young age are usually hereditary, but can be dealt with with a bit of liposuction and/or lower bleph. if you want drastic measures. It's fairly simple and you get immediate results. (worked for plastic surgeon) Even high rx can give you marked results on lasik and contacts dont increase your rx...age does. You might try the disposable, long wearing kind. They dont irritate your eyes so much by taking out putting in daily!! I hated that and I had lasik done and dont regret it. Looking kiddish is a-okay. Lots of gals like a youthful face. Projecting your shyness by hiding behind your glasses might
be the sole reason you feel your glasses are affecting your love life. Take a look at how you are acting around girls and guys differently. Are you confident? That's the key. If you dont go the way of contacts or lasik to immediately boost self confidence, try ordering several different cool styled frames of glasses and fit them to your many cool moods. ;) good luck!

Try and get glasses that aren't that noticible. Get ones that don't have such a dark frame. And look into contacts more. See if they will work for you. Try them and see how you like them. And change your look so you don't look kiddish anymore without glasses. Get a new hairstyle and a new look. This will make you stand out more and have people notice you.

I have a very high prescription - I was able to get contacts, but they don't correct my stigmatism.

I have worn thick glasses all my life, and know what you are talking about. :) But one thing it's taught me is to learn to be myself and worry more about what kind of person I turned out to be, not so much about what other people think.

On the other hand, I do like to go out and dance, so it is nice to wear contacts when I go out. More free, comfortable, and people can see my eyes better.

Use some cream for the bags under your eyes, and get more sleep. :)

Many people wear glasses and there are some very good-looking selections. I doubt if the fact that you wear glasses is a big issue with the ladies, so what else is going on that might be hindering your success with the opposite sex? Be honest with yourself and try to improve in whatever areas you may need improvement. You're going to be just fine, so relax.
