My ex told me in an e-mail he was sick in the past days with a 105.9 fever and that's why he wasn't able to respond to my e-mails. But, when i told my friend this he told me that he was surprised my ex hadn't died or something. So, basically how bad is a 105.9 fever, how serious, how realistic?

Thanks so much for your help! =D

He is probably exaggerating, if his fever was over 100, that is serious enough that he wouldn't have felt like emailing, but 105.9 is high enough to cause permanent damage to the brain, most people would be unconscious if their temperature reached that level - and would definitely need to be hospitalized.

My ex husband had a 104 fever because of strep throat and I took him to hospital right away. They said I should have brought him in when it hit 102-103 without breaking. It can be very serious for adults.

Realistically, he wants you to rush to the bedside, and a fever of 105.9 I'm guessing just may get you there!
Good thing you asked first!

Serious. Serious enough to cause brain damage. I have to say though, that these new digital thermometers don't always work properly. I've bought three of them and none of them worked correctly. Maybe he was running a high enough fever to really feel bad, but was getting a higher reading than what it really was.

A 105.9 fever is serious and you should stay home until you fell normal.

That's pretty serious. He needs to either go to the ER or make a doctors appointment.
When your fever is that high, brain cells are being burned off. Get him to a doctor.

It is probably true. I had a 105 degree fever with a terrible strep throat and thought I was going to die for three days straight and that was after I was on Penicillin for it. I couldn't bear to walk, talk or barely open my eyes.

Extremely serious. If your ex is not embellishing the serious of his condition, pay him a visit and get him to the ER as soon as possible.

He needs to get to the hospital ASAP. That is absolutely deadly. The highest I have personaly heard of someone having is 104 and they went straight to the hospital.

That's pretty serious and I think even more so for an adult. WebMd is a great place to look for information regarding health.
