Luke 24:30-31: And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. (cf Mark 14:22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take it; this is my body.")

Luke 24:35 Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread

1 Cor 11:27 Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the Body and Blood of the Lord.

QUESTION: What is the "bread"?

Catholics know this as the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Jesus.

For those of you who say "It's only a symbol":

Martin Luther says "It is a symbol of His Body"

But Jesus, while holding the Blessed Bread, said "This is my Body"

And Jesus, holding the cup of the Blesssed Wine (not grape juice) said "This is the Cup of My Blood".

And Jesus said "My Flesh is True Food and My Blood is True Drink" (John 6:55)

So with that in mind, who should we believe Jesus or some Catholic priest named Martin Luther???

Yeah, thats what that means. Jesus is the bread of life. He is present at mass in the Eucharist: body, blood, soul and divinity.

You have a couple of different meanings here.

For the passage in Luke it literally means that while they were eating, Jesus broke the bread, tore it apart into pieces and gave it to them.

Jesus used many ways to make himself known, not always bread by any means, he performed miracle upon miracle and the bible states that they are not all recorded.

Jesus used the same bread to allow the devil to enter into Judas as he did to teach the communion practice of rememberance of him. This does not make communion both evil and good. It was a means for us to remember what happened and be glad for it, that is all.

In the Mark passage, the actual communion is first held.

In the Acts passages, breaking of bread is meant literally as they came together to fellowship and eat. Bread was and is a staple in our diet to this day.

Corinthians passage has many lessons in it for all of us.

Mostly it means that if you do not believe the scripture, do not act as if you do. Do not participate in ceremonies and worship if your heart is not 100 percent certain that God and his word is true. Do not act out that which you do not believe in.

Would you actually want to drink Christs Blood and eat his flesh. This is an abominable idea that was mistranslated. He is saying instead of eating flesh and blood (meat) take this bread and grape juice to be for your food. I'm sorry but there are so many wrong things they are teaching people. Read the book You mean that's in the bible. There are so many mistranslations of the meat and flesh which meant food or to eat. " To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts: and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of goats. When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood." Communion is the symbolic taking of bread and wine as the Body and Blood of Jesus in remembrance of Him.

The Bread is just that... bread... or today some dehydrated waffer of somthing... but to follow the example of Christ real bread should be used and it should be broken not sliced... wine or grape juice is used to symbolize Christ's blood... it is a rememberance cerimony... it is what Jesus told us to do "... in rememberance of me"

We are commanded to preform the sacrament with blessings upon both bread and water (yes Ill get to why water in a minute). The bread is symbolic of the body of christ. The prayer that is said over it reads "O god, the eternal father, please bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remebrance of the body of they son, and witness unto thee, O god the eternal father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he has given, that they may always have his spirit to be with them. Amen." As you can see, the bread is the symbolic of the body of christ. We partake of it to renew our covenants we have made. The water used to be wine. However, by revelation we know that the Lord has said that it matters not what you drink as long as you bless it and drink it in rememberance of the blood of his son, Christ. The prayer over the water is similiar to that of the bread except it is done in rememberance of the blood of thy son, that they may always have his spirit to be with them. The sacrament is holy and must be blessed and passed and taken worthily.

To Bible believers, Jesus seems till now and far-off, and their faith possibly began at a assembly in Missouri contained in the Eighties or something. they in basic terms comprehend their cutting-edge Synod. yet Catholics have continuously been an same because the starting up with Jesus walking and speaking between them in the course of the Roman occupation, touching them and healing them, and their households KNEW Mary and ALL her sons and descend from the brothers of Christ besides because the early Apostles and Disciples and Martyrs contained in the Coliseum and they have not in any respect replaced. that is the unique church. because of their emphasis on the e book, Bible believers would provide equivalent emphasis to the old Covenant as to the hot Covenant, and also you get diverse Bible Believers who're spiritually residing contained in the fiery old testomony particularly of the residing presence of the draw close.

It doesn't turn into the literal body and blood of Jesus, though. It's a symbol meant to remind us of His sacrifice....
