The answer should always be, your's.......
However there are many mismatches made daily that can have disastrous results for both pet and owner.
Please take the time to do some very available homework, talk with a vet etc... discuss your situation kids? lab family is extraordinary- with some training of course. They are an ultimate family companion. Checking the breeding and lineage is crucial to ensure a healthy pet.
So many other breeds or "mixed" variety can provide a perfect fit. Think of it as making a very long term investment in a most wonderful relationship.
ShiTzu's would not do as well with our active family and current family situation- however a small mix or selected pure-bred may be a match made in heaven for a single, older etc....situation.
Please make the right decision by matching the animals inherent characteristics and needs with that of your's.
Smartest-- Jack Russel Terriers- would I have one, maybe later but they are so smart they are incessant.... there is a great deal of fund and anticipation in the decision making.

Yeah I would like to have a sheltie and I think they're pretty good dogs.I also think mutts are a good choice too because I have a German Shepherd/collie mix and shes a pretty good dog.My friend has a Sheltie/poodle cross and its a really unique looking dog.The moms a blue merle sheltie and the dads a poodle and KiKi( the dog) is sooooo adorable cause she has 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye.So I think even sheltie mixes are good dogs too.

I think the best dog in the world is either a daushund (wienerdog) or a chocolate lab. I have 3 daushunds and they are great with kids and they are easy to housebreak. They are very playful and love to be outside, they also live for a very long time. I had a chocolate lab but we had to give her up because she was very old but she was very friendly and loved to play They are also good hunting dogs and like to swim. Dobermans are also good dogs too they are very playful and easty to housebreak and get along with a lot of other dogs. My doberman was even nice to cats and my little wienerdogs. i hope this helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I was suprised at those rude comments.
None the less, I think Labs are.
I had never even thought about a Lab untill I saw Zoey a small black bundle. She was/is so cute!
I also LOVE shelties. We saw some from the place we got Zoey from. Some Sable's, and I wanted one SO bad.

While I think all dogs have their own appeal (and therefore none can truly be the best), Shelties are currently my favorites and dear to my heart.

Well first of all, do you have a dog? If so and you love your dog a lot, then the best dog in the world is your dog. For example: my dog is a husky-lab mix, so in my opinion a husky is the best dog! good luck on whatever you want!!!

There is no "best dog in the world". There are all kinds of breeds that all kinds of people like. Just look at all the different breeds that are listed by the people answering your question. Personally, I like Chow Chow's and Boxers, but that is only my choice.

I used to have a sheltie they are awesome!!! Underfoot was my childhood dog..Then I got a husky as an adult and now we have a rottie/lab! They are all the best dogs I ever had! Personality wise Underfoot..well his name says it all! Inook she was the husky rescue, and not a typical wandering husky she was so good!Obdient and affectionate like Brutus our lab/rottie we have now! All dogs are the best dogs!
