As a general rule, your body will metabolize about one ounce of alcohol (a beer, a glass of wine, a shot of whiskey, etc) per hour. That means if you have 3 drinks, you need to wait another three hours for the alcohol to leave your system.

However, some people will metabolize alcohol slower than the norm. So, this is not a hard-and-fast rule.

Generally, though, your boyfriend could have one drink, then hang around for a couple of hours, and be ok to drive.

Really what is the point in one drink? It's probably not going to have much of an effect and if it does then there is no answer to how long before he can drive, everyones different. He is better off just not drinking at all like planned. Don't feel bad, your boyfriend is very responsible and thoughtful for doing this. If you feel too bad wait until you both get home. Or just know he loves you and respect his self control!

Everyone's tolerance to alcohol and their ability to remove it (metabolise it) from their body varies.

In general women are less able to metabolise alcohol than men and in general the more a person weighs the less effect the alcohol has on them. However, there are a large number of factors which affect exactly when you are safe to drive after a given amount of alcohol and these may vary even within one person of different occasions, eg:-
* your state of health
* when you last ate
* what you ate
* when you previously last drank alcohol
* whether you drank beer or spirits
and a whole hots of other factors.

What all this means is that NO-ONE can judge exactly when they are sober enough to drive or when their blood alcohol is below the legal limit (these two are not exactly the same thing - people who are very susceptible to alcohol may not be "sober" enough to drive safely even if they are below the legal limit).

The only truly safe approach is not to drive within at least 6-8 hours of drinking.

1 drink = 1 hour wait after you are finished drinking that drink
so 2=2
3=3
4=4
and so on
That's what we learned in nursing. That's based on metabolism rates, and everyone's varys. Just because you do not feel drunk does not mean that your level is low enough to drive. Water can actualy make you "more drunk" if you drink it after you drink. Its best advised to drink water before.

each and every guy or woman is distinctive. You (at your length) ought to be good to flow after one million one million/2 hour for each drink. Your tolerance point isn't plagued via your gender. the cost at which you metabolize alcohol is, as women have much less of the enzyme needed of their gadget. it extremely is additionally changed via how lots entire alcohol you drink. in case you drink at a reasonable cost with foodstuff, you ought to be waiting to stress with none unwell effects in case you have one drink in keeping with hour.

Don't do that. He will probably be happier if he doesn't drink at all, and he can have one after you get home, when you are showing him how grateful you are for driving and getting you both home safely.
