Cecil has the right idea. "Match Grade" ammo is ammunition that is made to a slightly higher, more consistent standard, so that when it comes time for competition, the competitors are getting the best stuff out there. And since they all compete with the same batches of rounds, it ensures that the competition is strictly based on skill, rather than the ability to spend more money to get better ammo.

If you were in a competition match one would want to shoot the most accurate and consistent ammo. If the ammo was graded it could receive grades such as low grade, shooters grade, hunting grade, or match grade.

Shooters load their own ammo.

Some times it is for hunting, other times it is for target shooting.
In target shooting you have matches. You use the best grade for the type of match you are in.

You use different loads for the different types of targets you shoot at & the range or distance to the target.
