There is an overabundance of Mexican immigrants in the US today and combined they have quite an effect on our economy. I do not distinguish between illegal and legal here simply because for the most part neither categories are truthfully productive citizens. Yearly, there is approximately an economic shortfall of about $3,000 for each Mexican immigrant living in the US. The average LEGAL working Mexican adult living in the US pays 1/3 the taxes that his American counterpart does. This is mostly because the majority of Mexican immigrants have less than a High School Education, make less money, have more children and qualify for more social programs. ILLEGAL Mexicans living in this country pay NO taxes, get free emergency medical care, and get to send their children to US public schools. The ACLU thinks it is unconstitutional to stop a child from attending public school because they do not want to give up their private information. Do you think this is right?

Just so everyone knows..i am not stating an opinion..i am merely sharing facts that can all be found at www.cis.org. Therefore, this can not be considered immigrant bashing, discrimination, or racism in any way, shape, or form. It is simply a question asked on a popular controversial topic.

Bush is against sending the illegal aliens home, he is in favor of something between amnesty and naturalization, there wasn't much more said about it...but, if you let the family stay, and then don't put the kid into school, you're creating a problem, so it kind of has to be one, or the other. Whether or not this administration
and our states can figure out the right answer on this one will remain to be seen next year...

MY concern is, when will Mexico finally start building their own schools?

One advantage that the US/Mexico border fence has is that it will basically start forcing people to come up with their own answers, instead of taking the 'escape to america' easy-out. That's the problem with the common border with Mexico...america's just on the other side of 'la linea', and we have all this 'free' stuff...but, not for long, public schools are closing, public hospitals are closing, the only 'free' facilities left will be the welfare offices, and jails. I think it is not right for Mexico to expect to be able to basically 'send' its' citizens to the United States and have them be granted unlimited benefits at taxpayers' expense....
The ACLU has opposed american law on a lot of issues before,
one wonders what became of the MCLU...if there ever was one...
and that's just the point: Mexican citizens DO have rights, but they've left their country behind, and now expect the United States to provide all.

Mexico needs to develop. They need to build schools, they need to build roads, they need to build hospitals, to name 3 things.
I don't believe they will, because it's not in their short-term economic self-interest to solve their own problems when the United States will do it for them. The question is, will american citizens let this go forward, what does the majority say? Will people vote, or just slide into apathy on this and other issues?
Mexico is betting on apathy...

What more do you expect from the ACLU - don't understand why our tax dollars support this bunch of radicals!

I think NO mexican children should be allowed in our schools - a good example 10 years ago California had the #1 schools in the USA now after the influx of all the illegals they are 38TH! The illegals are the very reason Bush keeps talking about importing mathematicians & scientist - it's not because American children are stupid it's because they are taught to the mental level of mexicans rather than the mental level of an American child! Our government should be very proud!

This was a decision made by the mostly Republican Supreme Court in the early 1980's when Ronald Reagan was in office. It was called "Plyler v Doe" which made it mandatory for all foreign children residing in the U.S. to go to school the same as American citizen children. It also makes it illegal to try to keep them from going to our schools.

You're not helping the illegal immigrant issue by lending racism to the problem. While it is true there are a large number of illegal immigants of Mexican nationality it is also true they alone don't comprise the total illegal immigration population. As for 'Anchor' children of Mexican national parents it isn't neccessary to have a social security number to establish them as naturalized citizens when a simple birth certificate will be proof enough. The only purpose in issuing social security numbers to young children is that at age 5 and up it's required by the IRS in order for them to be claimed as legal dependents. As for children of illegal immigrants who were NOT born in this country then they should be allowed in the education system as state sponsored children. This could be done by redirecting the funds of social welfare packages on a percentage scale equal to that of funds provided by the local, state and federal agenices for students of legal citizenship. This should be done without any increase or subsidation to those welfare packages and would thereby reduce the available amount of funds for those social welfare packages that support more illegal immigrants than deserving citizens. Think about how this would affect those on social welfare and the self policing it would lend itself too. Those illegal immigrants on our social welfare programs would be despised by those of naturalized citizenship because they too would suffer from the redirection of funds and soon you would see a whole lot of people leading our governments and law enforcement agencies to illegal immigrants to get them out of the country and off the system so their benefits would return to previous levels.

ok i'm confused as to what ur asking.are you asking if children brought here illegal should be allowed to enroll in public shool or are you asking about children already born here who's parents are illegal? because i'm sure you know that once a child is born here that they automatically get a social security number assigned to them.and i agree on the part that no child should be denied an education,we have enough ignorant people in the world as it is.and its tough enough to get some kids to go to school without giving them an excuse on why not to.

Let's face it, these illegals, have absolutely no business in The United States. Their children should not be allowed to attend schools; which 'we' the tax payers are funding!
We are faced with a serious invasion!
American children must have a Social Security number to enroll in school.
Yes, I know anchor babies are American citizens.

The school required me to bring birth certificate, SS#, immunization records, proof of residency in that district, my SS#, photo ID, home phone, work phone, atleast 2 people to call in case of emergency and their photo ID, physicians phone number and dentist phone number. Divorce and custody papers. If I have to provide all that for my kids, why shouldn't they?

You can't blame the children in this situation though. All children deserve to have the same opportunities. By withholding that, you're just encouraging another generation of what most of you refer to as 'freeloaders' in your society.

I am tired of all the immigrant bashing. The children of any race, country, creed should not have to pay for the ignorance of our society.
