Tax in most cities in Illinois is between 6 and 7%. Title and license, estimate $200, just to be on the safe side.

So, if you buy a vehicle for $10,000, you can expect to pay between $800 and $900 on top of that.

add the total purchase price of the vehicle plus financing and multiply that by your state tax and you will get a rough estimate for the tax.

Is the tax on a new vehicle the total purchase price or is it the difference between the purchase price and the trade-in price?
