Labour isn't a socialist government, they're middle of the road, in terms of politics. Secondly, they don't contribute a MASSIVE amount compared to other countries through sheer waste. For example look at the the road tax prices introduced by Gordon Brown, which basically encourages people to drive economical cars rather than 'gas-guzzlers'. If you believe we waste a lot go to a country like America if you want to see the main cause of global warming, where, by the way the government isn't socialist, but right wing.

from the tone of question you are not looking for a reasoned argument.
However any democratically elected goventment, socialist or otherwise, is only a reflection of it's electors.
Waste/climate change emmisions in traditionally right wing US is far higher than in UK. Waste/climate change emmisions in traditionaly left wing Sweden is far lower.
If people & businesse don't abuse our common resources then controls to manage waste/emmisions are a waste - but too many people & businesses keep trying to get away without paying properly for what they use or the clean-up.
There is always scope for improving management systems, but not while people prefer to pay lawyers to find loop-holes rather than accept responsibility for the impact of their actions (Which would probably save them money in the long run too)

Why do you single out Socialist governments? And there are quite a few people who feel that we do not currently have a socialist government!!

Wrong! this government has reduced emissions and is still fighting to reduce it more, unlike the USA, China, Japan & India all refused to help, and, just to put you right, the Torys did nothing to help either
