me and my husband have 2 puppies that just don't seem to get along at all! One is a 4 month old Female malamute/husky mix and the other one is a 2 month old Male St. Benard. We try to put them together but it don't seem like they are playing! The St growls and his bite is a LOT harder then hers and they both wimper and I can't stand to see them get hurt! We never owned 2 dogs at once and just kinda thought that they would get along from the start! We are going to get them both neatured/spayed but that isn't for a couple of months. I can tell that they are compleatly different, the st is lazy and just likes to lay around and sleep and the husky/malamute is hyper and very active. Once they are fixed will they get along?PLZ HELP!

Is one a favorite of your husband and one a favorite of yours? They can tell. They are puppies and they will get used to each other. Do not chastise one over the other. Keep an eye on them and give them some separate time, one in and one out. They should become used to each other.
Hopefully they both will come around. If you are constantly getting between them or making it a big deal IT WILL get worse.

They will eventually get along... It is play... territory, and who's going to be the "big honcho". As adults neutering/spaying would decrease aggressiveness, as puppies it doesn't matter. You can "teach" them by spanking them with a rolled-up newspaper (It is not a question of hitting them hard, half the trick is the noise, slap the paper against your leg/hand too, make LOTS of noise, SHOUT). Any action by you that shows your disapproval will be noticed, make a big ho-ha every time they squabble. Anyway, the husky/malamute is bound to be a lot more playful (in a rowdy way) than the St Bernard and will eventually annoy the other on occasion. After they "learn" squabbles will die off. Do try to teach them soon because as adults a fight could get vicious and unless they respect you as the "score settler" it will be very difficult (and even dangerous) to separate them. (I had a Husky and a Neapolitan Mastiff, 45 lbs against 105 lbs)

When these two play they may accidentally nip each other with their very sharp puppy teeth, both should lose these and start replacing them with less irritating permanent teeth around 6 months of age. Try wearing the hyper dog out before putting it with the less active saint puppy the play may be less intimidating for the saint and he probably doesn't realize his own strength and size. After they are neutered/spayed they may show more calm attitudes, but the saint will probably mature much faster than the husky mix just do to size and attitude from the get go. good luck!

Hi JoJo, It may slow the hyper female dowm alittle, but she will always be a very active pup. The st.benard maybe alittle more lazy but that is it. You need to take both puppies to petsmart and enroll them in the puppy training class. This will help you out alot.I think the cost pre pup is $99.00.
You should start this right away. A Friend.

When we got Ginger, she was the runt of the litter. She was tinny and she is a smooth fox terrier mix. We had her for about three days when we rescued her older brother, he was the first one born, from going to the pound. Ginger perfered being alone, and she was very selfish. Spot was hyper, and Ginger was very calm, and loved to sleep.
After awhile, Ginger began playing with spot. If you'll wait, they will get along. We had never had two dogs at a time either. So, just wait. When they get a bit older they'll be the best friends
Hoped This Helped!!!!
Good Luck!!!!

Yes, as others have said, the puppies will have to work out a pecking order.

Unfortunately, you also have to watch out for aggressiveness. Both these animals are still puppies and it's possible that one of them is wired to be aggressive. If that's the case, you will have to make some difficult decsions.

Make sure they each have their own food dish and if needed their own water dish.

Get them neutered/spayed as soon as possible. That could definitely help.

all puppies play and are a bit rough sometimes. their only young and will test each other from time to time. however dont let it get out of hand. getting them spayed and castrated later will be good for them overall but its not to say that it will make them get along. you need to start training them now and be firm with them. give lots of praise when they do right. eventually you will have one who becomes more dominant. so youll need to be careful about feeding etc. never favour one more than the other as you will be asking for jealousy between them. doing the right training and praising correctly will give you 2 happy and content puppies.

We have had two dogs since Christmas, it is very trying . I had a 2yr old English spinger spaniel and at Christmas we got a 6wk old choc. lab. Now the lab is a 1yr old he is bigger then the springer. They play very rough. Sometimes i have to break them up. I think once you get then fixed things will get better, but it won"t happen over night. Practice alot of patience.

They're just trying to establish a pecking order, one or the other will eventually become dominant regardless of spaying and nutering. When they finally get this settled they will settle down and quit bickering.

Congratulations in your new dog! To train the dog to obey instructions you have to be constant. Always use the identical word or phrase and continuously talk within the identical tone of voice. Speak on your usual voice. Do now not yell. Yelling frightens the dog and won't train him/her a factor. You would possibly suppose that it does, in view that simply as an instance say the dog has performed anything that he/she is not meant to do and also you end up pissed off with Puppy and also you yell "No". The dog will transfer clear of you and you may also suppose that you've taught him/her anything and this may not occur once more. Well, you might be part proper. You have taught the dog anything through yelling at her/him and that's to be scared of you in view that the dog may not realize why you are yelling. Please talk in a usual voice or a tender voice whilst you talk to the dog. In order to train the dog the command "No" first made up our minds what the dog can do and what the dog is not meant to do. Some of that is visible to you and your loved ones. Some will not be you probably have youngsters equivalent to you do not wish the dog at the furnishings in view that it (the furnishings) gets soiled and it'll get puppy hair. After you identify together with your loved ones what's O.K. for the dog to do and what isn't O.K., then all people will have to use the identical phrase or phrases to train the dog. Puppys gain knowledge of through repetition. Just maintain at it and beautiful quickly you are going to have a quality good behaved dog. Also, please don't hit the dog--regardless of a rolled up newspaper. People say that in the event you do that the dog or the puppy is not going to accomplice it with you however this isn't precise. The dog can see who's conserving that newspaper. If you wish to area the dog you will have to now not hit or yell. I had a dog that I crate expert and whilst she might now not obey me after oftentimes, then I might placed her in her crate for what's known as a "day out." I might now not placed her within the crate after which placed her in a room through herself--she might have felt deserted. Instead I placed the crate within the room with me and I sat and talked to her till she calmed down after which I instantly permit her out. You would possibly do that. As to instructing the dog to not chew, and to not bark-- puppys bark--that is usual however to train her to quit barking, simply talk on your usual voice and inform her "No" or "Be really" or "Hush" or anything like that. As some distance as trainer her to not chew, first be definite that the man or woman isn't teasing the puppy. Biting is among the methods that puppies and puppys have of protecting themselves. If the man or woman had now not teased the dog, simply talk on your usual voice to the dog and inform him/her "No" or "The postman is our pal" or anything alongside those strains. This will take awhile, however puppies are clever. Keep at it as I stated prior and beautiful quickly you are going to have a good-mannered dog. I just about neglected the final side of your query. Since the dog is white a few names perhaps Snowball Frosty (male) Also you will have to make a record of names that you just like and names that go well with the dog. Take a couple of days and watch the dog and you are going to observe the dog's persona and you may also wish to make a reputation from a attribute that he/she has. For illustration, I had a combined breed terrier. The identify she had whilst I first acquired her used to be entirely beside the point. I made a record of names that I favored and I watched the dog and I spotted that she walked like a girl and held her head similar to a girl and so my new dog grew to be Lady.
