We've all eaten it for years. Life expectancy has also increased. You can't deny those facts.
I think you're worrying too much.

Yes, there are many conflicting stories about this subject! The truth is, when you begin gravitating towards the healthier foods, you feel better! So are some foods hurting us? Yes they are! Always try to eat fresh veggies over canned, but rinse well. Choose lean meats, but read labels carefully. Avoid over processing and preservatives whenever possible. Some foods may even insinuate they are lower in sugar, for example, while using things like high fructose corn syrup, which has a much worse effect on blood sugar levels than real sugar! You just have to keep educating yourself on what the ingredients on those labels really mean!

a really good read: Not on the Label, by Felicity Lawrence. You're right to be worried. We should all be. The reality is that our environment is not the way it used to be. Don't panic: simply read the label of the foods you buy but most of all, avoid ALL processed foods. What I would do if I were you, is simply try to find out if there's any farm or farmers' market in the area where you live or work, and buy only local products. You'll notice the difference immediately.

Our food is poison. To some extent, everything we are used to, is nearly unhealthy. Look up TRANS FATS, these are caused by using partially hydrogenated corn, and peanut oils, these oils which things are deep fried in, are actually solid at room temperature, meaning when they are in your body they have the ability to clog arteries and veins, no wonder why people are having heart attacks and strokes. Look on the labels for trans fats you will find it on most products although some have went to sunflower oils and other safe oils. Other things which are considered poison is the pesticides used to treat produce and also the runoff from sprays getting into water supplies. It all depends on who you ask.
I work in healthcare, and I still eat poorly but it makes you think about the way and what you eat.

the reason why it seems poisned because we only eat processed food and food that is in a can or box. we no longer eat food that has been grown organically in farms and livestock. many companies do in fact place chemicals in food to keep them fresh and tasting the same so that they would survive the long trip to our local grocery stores. however, i wouldnt worry about it. the human digestion system has enough chemicals that can break down food and eliminate some things that may seem bad. just make sure that you visit your doctor regualary to make sure the you and your children are still healthy

I would always look at the product labels before you buy food at the grocery stores. Try to pick the most natural products you can. You should even do this at "natural food stores".
