out of the millions of species that inhabit this planet we are the only ones that belive in a supreme being of some sort or another, we also belive we are the only intelligent life here but i person belive this is because we cant communicate with any other species or a level other than absolute basic (ie fetch or sit). big cats in africa spend hours sitting around forming relationship, primates have social bonds far more complicated than humans if your remove technologies, dolphins can understand a lot more of our communication than we can of theres, if you take away our technologies we are nothing more than prey/predators about halfway up the food chain. so why do we when no other species on the planet belive in a being which there is no non man made proof off? note there is also no proof that we are the only self aware species on the planet

love shanes answer, leave it to a human to think that, anyways maybe the real reason is because we really aren't so smart after all, you don't see the dolphins or monkeys and apes lighting up a cigarette or being alcoholics or driving around in gas guzzling ozone depleting vehicles now do you, they also don't go on a suicide bombing mission in the name of Allah, nor do they have to worry about their youth being involved in gang violence. True enough it is because they lack the intelligence to do so, but just because they can't design and create these things or form thoughts of a design being to destroy life on the face of the planet does not nessecarily make them the less intelligent creatures on the face of the planet does it? I think humans put way to much thought into how they are the intelligent design on the face of the planet, notice how it seems that you only see the things that you want to see because society says it is so? if god truly did create everything on the face of this planet I think about the stupidest thing he could have created was us, we are the most self destructive creatures on the face of the planet, I don't think that makes us very superior to other life at all, our superior brains haven't done anything for us, I wouldn't call us self aware, maybe self absorbed, anyways, maybe the reason we are the only ones that believe in a creator is because we are the only ones dumb enough to, I often think animals know somethings that we don't, besides just because we believe in something also doesn't nessecarily make it right or true for that matter

If you take away our technology, you are still left with an animal that has an incredible brain that far exceeds the brain of any other animal on this planet. Also, you may feel the need to discount technology in your argument, but we are the only species on this planet with the intelligence to develop the kind of technology we have in th first place. Surely that says something about our intelligence. It stands to reason that the more complicated an animal's brain is, the more it is able to understand about its surroundings, and question its purpose in life?

I believe that we are not the most intelligent species on this planet; for one we are the ones who are destroying it. Maybe we are the only species who believe in a higher being (but how could you really know if we can't "talk" to the other animals) the same way we and dolphins are the only ones who have sex for pleasure. But I also believe that as we like to think that as time goes by and there is new technology that we are getting smarter that that is not the truth. The ancients knew things that we have long forgetten.

Most of the other species on this earth are of least intelligence than we are, take your common house cat, does that believe in God controling it every move. No, because it does not think about things like that, it just acts on instinct. But, it says in the Holy Bible that we are worth more than a flower in a field, but that flower does not have to worry about being clothe all the time. Like we do.

Of all the species human beings are intelligent. We can understand, study, research and come to conclusions. The quest to know more about the meaning of life is in us. This is where spiritualy comes in. For some it works, to know that there is a power above us who does things for us, This is a coping mechanism to make the pains of growth better. It is good to blame on the power above because life can be difficult for some people. when we fail we blame on the power above us saying may be there is something in store for us that is better. It helps us to move on.
Another way of seeing is God made this earth, from his own energy, from single cell to more complicated humans. It is only man who aspires to be god like, so its a circle, animals do not aspire to be god like, it is only humans who believe in a creation and all the godly qualities.

well, i would say it is pretty cocky of you to assume that we humas are the only ones on the planet that believe in a higher power...do you speak dolphin? what about chimp? or maybe you are a modern-day doolittle. what we do have proof of, though, thanks to your very well thought out question, is that we humans are can be pretty full of ourselves. we as a species don't all believe in the higher being anyway. some of us don't so instead of lumping us together in some silly category, let the individual reign supreme and leave the theological debate to the birds (maybe they know more about the higher powers, they are after all, higher up) cheers.

And what makes you think we are the only species that believes in a supreme being of some sort or other? When you have a chance, take a look at a cat or dog. What do you think they view US as?

Great question! Because when one falls to the material world (because of envying Gods position) one has to travel through 8,400,000 Species of life to come to the human form. God made it that the human form is made for self realization. Even in the human form one will miss use their free will and end up going up and down from hell heaven to earth until they finally exhaust their material desire to lord it over material nature. Once this happens they call out to God for answers and He reveals the process to come back to Him. SO the answer is that is how God designed it. But one should not kill and eat lower species of life. The human diet is vegetarian and we will get Karma for that. Go to www.stephen-knapp.com for universal information and www.essene.org for the truth on Christ

Did I miss the porpoise poll? I must have. I wasn't aware of any atheist animals existing. I think until and unless we are able to ask what denomination a Dalmatian belongs to, debating the animal kingdoms religious preferences is a waste of time. fooey! I just wasted my time!
