Being a Mother of two toddlers, I know not to call people from 7pm-9pm if they have children. Safe to call before or after, up to 10pm. If a person does not have kids, I generally will not call past 9pm.

Unless you're a teenager or a night owl, most people feel that calls after 9:00 PM are a bit intrusive on a household's evening rituals, such as getting ready for bed, or just having "quiet time". The exceptions would be something like an emergency involving a friend or loved one. Most of the time, if the phone rings later at night, people assume it is an emergency, which, if it isn't, brings on a mixed feeling of relief and annoyance.

When in doubt, ask ahead of time. People will appreciate your consideration of their preferences.

Depends on the person and their living situation. 8 pm is a reasonable general time, although a bit later can be ok if you know the person well and it's important and there's little chance that they're asleep. Or parents who are putting their kids to bed at 8, then a bit later is necessary. For students in a dorm room, 10 pm is often ok.

Basically, the less well I know the person, the earlier I try to make the call.

If you have a chance, ask how late is ok to call. Then you know for sure.

I say that if the person doesn't have kids or work really early in the morning, 10:00 is probably ok, but I don't usually call people after 9 (definitely not if I know they have kids).

I think that it really depends on who your calling. Like if your calling someone in a huge family with lots of kids I wouldn't call later than 9pm. But if it's someone older that stays up later I would call at 11pm at the latest.

If you already OK it with the person or if it is an emergency Its OK to call later. But other than that I wouldn't.

10 pm is the latest you should call. If they have young kids after 9pm there should be no calls.
Its only ok to call later than that if there is some sort of emergency that you need their help, or if they need to know something that happened, for example some died or someone is missing.

I would say not to call after 9:00 p.m. unless it's a Friday or Saturday night. Then I'd call until 10:00 p.m.

The polite time is 8:00 p.m. It's okay to call after that time if you know the person's bedtime habits and you know that you won't be waking them up . . . OR . . . you are calling in an emergency. (That's why email's so great; you can email at any time and they can get it at any time.)

Don't call anyone past 9:00 P.M. or before 1:00 P.M. Unless they have a cellphone and you two are really close to eachother. Then you can call their cell past 9:00, but before 10:00 P.M.

I usually don't answer my phone after 9pm. I tell my kids friends they can't talk on the phone after that. Only if it's an emergency, or if you really need to know/tell something or it's the weekend is it OK to call after that time.
