Poppyseeds can be found in the spice aisle of your grocery store, and buttermilk powder can be found in the baking aisle, usally near the condensed milk and baking soda items.

I'm in Cali too, and I get buttermilk powder at either Albertsons or Safeway in the baking aisle near the sugar and flour. Poppy seeds would be in the spice aisle. I'm sure Ralph's has all those too in the same areas of the store. I only go to Ralph's for bulk peanut oil, and it's across town.

Try some of the oriental shops, they have loads of good products. I find a lot of stuff I need in there and they have some great spices etc. Also try some bakeries for the poppy seeds as they top bagels with them.

If Ralph's, Albertson's and Von's don't carry them, try Trader Joes, Whole Foods or Gelson's. They should(?) carry Poppyseeds.

If not - Penzeys is the best:

Both your grocery stores should carry them.

You'll find the b.m. powder by the dry milk usually in the upper level.

Poppy seeds can even be found at a $1 store.

good luck
