The get over it pretty quickly. I had my adult male and female cats fixed at the same time...they came back somewhat woozy but not mad at me from what I remember...I am gonna have to do it all again in a few months with my two kittens...
I would say get it done before he turns one...my cat Bob was a very destructive cat and he also sprayed all over the place marking his territory. I think you wanna do it before your house smells like cat pee! Now that is something that would make you mad for sure! Good luck!

6 months is the perfect age he is ready anytime. Have your vet do preanesthetic blood work and FELV/FIV test your cat if you haven't already done so. Your cat won't be mad at you. If you see a change in his behavior initially it is because he just had surgery, it can be uncomfortable afterward. Your veterinarian may chose to send pain control home for your cat (don't give any pain medication not prescribed by your vet--NO human stuff unless your vet says so) if no pain control is sent home he may have used long acting pain control in the hospital. Your cat will take approximately 30-60 days to deplete the testosterone produced by his testicles so you may see more behavior changes then such as calmer, less urination (less smelly too), and increased appetite--don't give in keep him on a healthy diet.
Good luck and neutering is best for your kitty if you are not a breeder.

i would be getting it done now they say 6 months is the age they do it at would you rather the cat be mad at you or stuck outside with a chance of getting hit by a car or hurt another way than be mad at you i have 3 kittens that were just nuetered and they give them distemper shots also and they are fine still the same as before

You should get him neutered now. A male cat that is not neutered can begin to mark his territroy. Your cat is not going to be mad AT you for having him neutered, he may not act himself for a few days just due to having a surgery

Right away. Cats can be safely nutered/spayed at 5 months. Some even do it younger.

Your cat will be fine, It may be a little sore but your vet will explain ways to make him most comfortable.

now should be a good time to get it done, and your cat might hold a bit of a grudge
