I am writing a term paper I would like for people who are either are from Turkey to answer or someone who has experience Turkey culture up front. Just going to Turkey as an tourist is okay but I need someone who has done more than just site seeing really. Someone who has gone for the culture really or just visit every chance they get.

Well, ok I'm a Turk, and I'll tell you some of our cultural behavior. We, Turks, do not accept offers immediately. It's considered rude (or now it's just a culturally transmitted habit) to accept an offer right away without being insisted on for a few times. If you're not very close to the person who's offering something, it's better to kindly reject it, if they offer it again you can humbly accept it if you like. We can be very insisting sometimes. As a Turk, I'm sometimes fed up with this behavior. But this is a part of our culture. One of my friends told me she was at her American friend's home once and her friend invited her to eat dinner, and she refused the offer at first but waited for a second offer which didn't come from her friend. She said she thought it was very rude of her friend to eat in front of her without asking her again if she'd like to join the dinner :) She says she starved!

Another behavior, we like to be helpful to strangers. Anyone on road can help a stranger or a foreigner for nothing (of course beware the ones who want to cheat you).

I'll write as things come to my mind, it's difficult to write on things which you accept without questioning in daily life!

Hmm Purple has wrote some of the stuff tht is commonly experienced from the very first minute you set your foot in Turkey.
Good work.

As far as I ve seen people are close and friendly at any moment or any place of the day. They r polite and will not hesitate to offer you anything that they are having ( such as food ) . And they love to insist on it too!! Like this ;

- Come on have some ( offers some crisps )
- No thank mate.
- AAAAA come on here you go
- No mate I cant Im stuffed already
- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA bro come on this little wont hurt ya
- kem kum but but
- Here you goooo !! Want some more ??
- **burps** Noooo thanks bro
- Good Good tht s my mate!! ** pets you on the shoulders **

lol They luv sharing stuff and offerin them to people. But this ain't the same when they are in traffic lol Those polite friendly people end up being The Montoya's of the Streets. So its like " me me me me go first " while driving , which is pretty entertaining if you like and enjoy having some amusement when driving and can handle your nerves lol

Each above did well, especially I agree with my man Blue Dragon.

I have to say its hard and too long to explain the culture of Türkiye. I think it will be better for you to visit here for at least double weeks if possible. I m sure when u arrive home, you will get the best mark for your term paper by this beautiful experience or you will forget to write it!!!

Good luck...
