I assume your spouse is British?
You need a long term residency visa from the home office, at a cost of £350.
You can download them online http://www.globalvisas.com/page61__Long_Term_Residency_visa.aspx
From then on you are entitled to apply to become a u.k. subject. We aren't officially citizens, but HRH's subjects.

If you have been married to a UK or EU citizen for 2 year and have been living together in UK all that time you are entitled to apply for Leave to remain Indefinite. That's a permanent residence permit.
If you have been working full time legally for 5 years, I think you are entitled to the same. If you want a British citizenship, then I think you can apply for that too, but I heard that you have to take a some kind of test now.
Check Home Office's website. And contact an immigration lawyer, not home office, as lawyers know better.
