She has a pervasive developmental disorder. She is really all over the board as far as developmental age. But for the most part I'd say she was about 12 or so.
Well, anyway, what I'm asking is if anyone knows of any studies as to WHY this occurs?
I have been all over the net and can't seem to find anything.
When she was born she was coming out butt first instead of head first. She was doubled up inside me and I've wondered so many times "if we could have prevented her trying to come out in that postion, would it have spared her? I in my infinite wisdom LOL! can see the reasoning.

Here are some links for you. Although I don't recommend wikipedia all the time, it's there, so I thought you'd like to see it. It's a neurodevelopmental disorder so perhaps you can look in there.

Also, there are many types of pervasive developmental disorders. Perhaps it would help if you put down the specific disorder.

As for coming out butt first, I have no idea lol, but I really don't think that's the reason she has PDD. It seems too.. i dunno.. Not the cause but the effect? Or not even the effect. Maybe that's rare but still normal? And don't think about the 'what's ifs' anymore, what's done is done.

Have you gone on Yahoo to research (in their search engine portion of the site) the particular wording that has been used to diagnose your daughter? You say overall you feel she is 12. How old is she, actually? Even though your reasoning about why this may have occurred could be right, of course we can't change the conditions of her birth now. What you can do, of course, is get more understanding of how to deal with her skills and limitations so she has the best life possible. Best of luck!

It wasn't anything you could have prevented, quit driving yourself crazy about that. I do see the irony in your reasoning though, keep that sense of humor going and enjoy your daughter for who she is. Good luck to you.
