You should do it respectfully, no matter how he has treated you up until this point. Respectfully means you should tell him IN PERSON. Not by email or on the phone. It also means you should tell him the truth and not lie about why you are breaking up. Perhaps your telling him the truth will help him improve in the future so that he can treat his next girlfriend better.

very carefully, just tell him , you cannot stand anymore fights, and you want to just be by yourself for awhile, dont tell him you want to see any one else, keep that a secret between you and the Good Lord, Just tell him, you are soo tired of fighting, and you dont need this, Soo stay away from me for awhile, leave him alone for 2 weeks he will move on, and you will have a better guy
