That is a great question. My father fought in WWII. At least you could see that we had actually won that war. Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq don't have a conclusion. We just pull out after all the bloodshed and nothing is settled.

During WWII the Japanese people in the US were put in containment camps so they could not send information to the enemy. Today our country allows anyone from a nation we are fighting to enter our country and then leave whenever they want to.

Why don't we track down the Iraqi people in the US and deport them? If they love the US, why are Muslims changing the rights of Christians to pray at school? Why not just tell them to leave while we are at war with their country? Why must we give up our own freedoms at home by travel to another country to fight for people who live in our country and are trying to change our laws to reduce our freedoms?

We, the American fighting man, have fought and paid the ultimate price for freedom. The sad part is, people have given most of those rights away to the politicians, who, have sold us a bill of goods.

I can remember when the military had strong vote block every year, but Congress has whittled that away by discouraging military voting.

WE are the enemy because we let them get buy with it. They know that a majority of Americans cant agree on anything so, we sit back and complain, but don't do nothing. I am a vet of Viet Nam, and was training the people in Just Cause when it went down.

All I can say is this country needs a complete over-haul and maybe we need some vets to run for office. At least we could get a more honest answer and support from then.

We are still fighting for freedom. Unfortunately, we have two battlefronts. There's the one that you fought on (as does my husband) militarily, then there is the homefront where we ALL must fight. The ACLU is using our courts to take away our rights and freedoms, hence the war on Christmas, etc, and we must fight to stop them. I believe that the majority in this country does not what a secular progressive society that is oppressive, but are too afraid to do anything about it.

Fight back. Vote, and make your voice heard. Let yoru son wear his religious shirts in public, proudly display your nativity, say "Merry Christmas". Don't let the SPs take over.

I thank you and yours for the sacrifies you have made, and ask that you keep up the fight.

I am a Nam era vet, luck of the draw kept me from ever being in the fighting, and I retired after Desert Storm. My Father was in WW2 and Korea, and he saw action. My daughter is on active duty now. You speak of the freedom to express your religion, what about others? Would you support the right of one your kids classmates to build a screen of Mithra slaying the Bull, or of Midir's Battle with the Lion? If not, then where is their freedom? What the Supreme Court took away was the right of Public schools to compel non Christians to actively participate in Christian religious activities. Anyone who thinks there is no prayer in schools wasn't in my Algebra 2 class during finals. When we put on that uniform, and chose to make it a career, we took an oath to defend the constitution from all foes, foreign and domestic, and the first amendment grants us freedom of, or, if we choose, from religion. It is that for which we fought and fight.

We fight to make money for the people who continue to strip our freedoms away. If you think that not being able to express your religion is the worst of these violations of our rights, you are wrong. The government can monitor all e-mails, phone calls, letters, and do searches of private property without warrents or notification due to the patriot act. People who do not agree with this can be taken into custody as 'suspected terrorists' and held indefinitely with out charge or sentencing for as long as they deem fit. They can be tortured for information if they deem fit. The list goes on and on about how they are taking away our freedoms, they might as well rewrite the Constitution in its entirety. At the same time, they are cutting the budget for benefits and healthcare for vets, then sending the money that they save there back in to re-double the war efforts.

The US could no longer become a member of within the battle to quit the unfold of germany's military till US civilian ships have been sunk three years into the struggle. We didn't become a member of WW2 till Pearl Harbor. it does no longer look we opening activily combating within the core east till after nine/eleven. Very very good question. What most soldiers fight for is to keep our country safe from other "evils" in this world. One-hundred percent freedom here? No, I can't really say we have that; especially when you have to watch what we say and do when it comes to our beliefs. Sadly to say, but maybe that's why this country is in such a state today. We need to get back to our original ideas and the reason people came to this country; instead of slowly blocking it out.

Good question... the fight goes on... it is normal freedom loving people against the likes of the ACLU... If people don't pay attention, this war could well be lost and out country with it.

First, thanks for your service, from another vet from a military family.

You were fighting for your honor, the lives of your buddies, and the ambitions of your leaders, most of whom had private agendas that had nothing to do with stated causes for those wars.

Read retired USMC General Smedley Butler's book "War is a Racket". He know all of this in the 1930s.

I agree, and I'm also a vet. Fighting these wars overseas has not made our country any better nor given us more freedom.
