Sadly, many parents are also subject to cultural fashion trends and beauty standards. My heart is sore when I witness people patrolling each other's looks to make sure that it "lines up" with cultural standards, as if looks were something important, of social value, capable of somehow changing the world...
I think many people spend more time, energy, and resources worrying about how they look, than they do about important issues like world hunger, homelessness, poverty, and classism.

IF hair is greasy or not, the body is doing what its chemicals, hormones, genetic makeup etc is telling it to do.

I'm sorry your mother, along with billions of other people, have not yet overcome such shallow fixations.

My sincerest thoughts are with you.

PS my hair is naturally greasier than some people's hair, and naturally less greasy than other people's hair. I find that it is less greasy if I use less conditioner, or none at all. And the only reason I worry about level of greasyness, is that it irritates my scalp at times and is in that way inconvenient to me.

You must be young. I had the same problem. My mom started calling me Grease Lightning (after the car off the movie Grease). Any way it had a lot to do with my conditioner, hormones and the climate. Don't use a heavy conditioner. Steer completely clear of Pantene, Suave, Fruits and White rain. Try for Herbal Essence, Hume tress and Dove. Also see if you can really shampoo the hair well (to the roots) then condition just the ends (about three inched from the roots). If you find you don't need a conditioner them stay away from it altogether. Never use the leaving in spray.
Next if you have lighter hair i have found that baby powder near the roots helps control the greasy look. If its a darker shade you can try but it might start to look gray. Also cut down on the hair stray and product (unless you use the three inches from the root rule). Don't run your fingers through it and don't brush it unless you must (that just spreads it more). If it looks greasy in the middle of the day i blast mine with a hot hair dryer for a second. I also go rid of my bangs and short hair around my face. Those would get really bad just touching my skin.
Next i lived right on the ocean and that just was terrible for me. IT always looked greasy until i move away for college inland. Also if you are younger that may be the case as well. Its the hormones. While mine can still get a little greasy in the day it has cut down over the years. Try drinking lots of water, eat more fruit and steer clear of any fatty foods (fried stuff). That was my weakness.
Now then again it could just be your mom. I remember my mom didn't have this great hair either.
You may just want to tell her to cool it. Or just tell her its the new thing to have. Old perople like her don't understand.
Or once my mom told me i looked like the bag lady with my hair. I told her it didn't matter what i looked like when we went out together. No one could see me around her butt.
Now don't go tell your mom anything mean (even know thats what she seems to do to you). I have that kind of relationship with my mom.
Good luck. I hope this helps. I know what you are going through. Just keep you head up and tell all the wankers to stuff it.

Well it seems that your mom is just picking on you for some reason or another. You should be like you know what mom your right now how about you buy me some shampoo and conditioner from the beauty salon it might cost 15+ for one bottle but my hair will look great no more grease or split ends and the smell umm umm good and if you dont want to fork over the money then stop nagging me. Even though you might not need it, you might still get some great shampoo and conditioner and your mom might stop picking on you. Good luck

It is to bad that your mother is putting this one you. Ignore her as much as possible.
Sometimes really healthy hair appears greasy so you could add some blond highlights to dry the hair out and will tone down the shininess
good luck

OMG! My mom does the same thing to me to and she always say that I dress ugly compared to my friends. It's your opinion and I guess your mom just wants you to learn how to clean it better or she just cares about you but dont feel hopeless over hair!

talk to your mother. Maybe you could ask her what does she thinks it would be good for your hair. tell her she would be more helpfull giving you the solution for what she thinks is a problem.

Hope you can solve it =)
