Before I learned just what forgiveness meant biblically, yes, I asked over and over for God to take revenge.
Then I learned that he will, just not in my timing or how I wanted revenge. This allowed me to relax. I learned to forgive and also learned to put the outcome in Gods hands instead of mine.
I do not want to make this process seem easy, it wasn't. It took years for me to come to this point in my walk.

I've never prayed to avenge the pain. I've thought about what you're saying. Try to forgive them, move forward, become a better person etc. We're probably tempted though, because at the time that's the first thought that goes through our head. We want revenge and we are so angry that's all we mostly think about.

Yea, I have wrestled with that, many times, but when I wrestle before the Lord over it He always wins and I always forgive. There is a freedom when there is absolutely no one in the world that you have anything against that is so uplifting that once you have tasted of it, you never want to get back under the slavery of bitterness again. You know what? - God says that He forgives us in the same way that we forgive others so when I fully forgive others, and have absolutely no grudges against them, I can feel all guilt for my offenses leave me, and I know that God has fully forgive me.

Is very hard not to be tempted to do wrong to those that hurt you.
Jesus knew that. That why He preached so much on love thy enemies. As long as we are in this sinful body, we are going to be tempted is numerous ways. As the Lord to forgive you first and to take care of the wrong that others have done to you. He is the one that said also "Vengeance is mine, said the Lord."

My mom always used to say may God rebuke you. But rebuking is for God only and he forgives us everyday for sins we don't even know that we are doing against Him. So even though we may feel that way we should never pray for that. I would tell him how fustrated I was and for strength to forgive, but thats all because when they get it back it will be ten times worse and you will feel sorry for then.

I don't do that, I might sinnfully wish something bad upon them but I never take it as far as praying for it.

God just sits around waiting to do the bidding of the righteous. Try forgiveness it will actually work. If this is not good enough try Voodoo or becoming a Republican.
