Our Dog has a terrible oil and smell that accumulates within hours of taking a bath, she is a mutt (no clue what types of dogs). she been given steroid shots, coal shampoo baths, a venicin (deer meat) dog food diet all reccomended by our doctor, and she also bites her feet uncontrollably till she rips skin! What is this, why does it happen, and the question i want answered most is how to treat it? Thank you soo much for any possible input.

I had similar problems with my 1 dog. She is a mutt also. You say your dog eats venison based food. Venison and potato is a popular choice for allergy problems, however the food smells horrible and is even worse when pooped out. I worked at a kennel and hated when a boarder used this food. The best I have seen and what I feed is Nutro's Natural Choice Lamb and Rice. Within 3 weeks of being switched to this food my dogs' skin cleared, the stink was gone and the glossy, healthy cost was left. People often compliment my dogs on their glossy coats. I have seen this also in boarding dogs where I worked.
Chewing the feet is a little harder to fix especially if steroid shots didn't help. My experience has been to use Benedryl. One capsule/tablet a day for dogs 30 lbs. and up, 1/2 tablet for small dogs, and the problem clears in a few days if its an allergy. If this works you may need to repeat often when symptom occur(just like people). However if your pups biting her feet is stress/anxiety related it may not help(Benedryl also acts as a mind sedative and makes the pup sleepy). You'll need to find the source of the stress and fix it. Maybe more toys or confinement it a crate when you're not home. Good Luck.

Could she possibly have a yeast infection? Did Vet check for this. Is the odor in and around her ears? If so check out www.nzymes.com look at some of the photos and testimonials and see if this sounds familiar to you. I just did this with my dog. She is on the stuff and doing better. Yes, she also needs to change her diet to at least make additions.....like the brown rice....could she need enzyms as well....digestive like prozyme. Good luck

She may have a bug of some sort. Do you have her on advantage or something similar? This type of flea treatment fights alot of other bugs that dogs get. Have you noticed anything on the stomach like bites or anything? I would seriously recommend pushing your vet for some tests to see if she has a bug.

I as quickly as observed a family contributors that accompanied a beagle on the canines Whisperer yet using fact they did no longer examine the breed they did no longer be attentive to what looking after a beagle entailed... it extremely is fairly an fairly loud canines that barks alot, follows its nostril and could drag you with it and without perfect excercise can replace into very detrimental! additionally they did no longer understand that once she barked it wasnt certainly agression despite the fact that it extremely is merely how they're whilst they save on with scents. yet as long as you be attentive to all that it would make an astonishing family contributors puppy! bite toys that isn't come aside are good to maintain it occupied and end it from starting to be detrimental..your vet and local puppy save can inform you whats the final eating regimen on your canines and toys etc. you're able to desire to locate a close-by vet which you will convey your canines whilst it desires its photos/ whilst it ought to be fixed and microchipped and if theres an emergency.

HAve the thyroid checked and get allergy testing done. It is expensive, nut can pinpoint what if anything the dog is allergic to. Then they can get allergy shots like people to treat the allergies.

the smell could be from having to much protien and fat from the meat,i suggest you replace much of the animal based ingredients with a good proportion of boiled brown rice so that the diet consists of approx one third each of meatrice and veg,
the scratching of the feet could be infection, mites, stress or anxiety
