The problem is clearly because of unhygienic tools that the barber or the hair dresser had used, which has passed infection picked up from another guy to your son. Now your son would require a course of antibiotics as furunculosis or pyoderma will result and can be serious if your child is otherwise weak or lacks immunity. Do not let your child scratch his head otherwise the infection will flare up more.

My son gets the same thing after each haircut. I put Cortizone 10 on it. It keeps him from scratching and goes away in a few days.

My son had a problem with rashes after hair cuts, it was the clipper oil. Try either asking the barber to wipe the clippers or use scissors.
