I bought my ticket on orbitz.com and I don't know if I actually have a ticket to print out or if I just print out the itinerary. And if I do have a ticket to print out, how far in advanced can I print it out?

I use Orbitz and get e-tickets from them every time I fly (and I fly frequently). What you do is print out the itinerary once the itinerary has a ticket number listed. This is important. If you book way in advance (like months), you may get an itinerary but no ticket number until closer to the date of travel. Once you have the ticket number(s), print out the itinerary and take it with you to the airport. You will go to a self-service kiosk and type in your ticket number or just your first and last name and the information is located within the system. There at the airport, they will print out boarding passes for each leg of your flight. It's very easy. Printed tickets are obsolete because this system is the best way to go! If you lose your paper with the ticket number, don't worry. Just show up at the airport and they can locate your itinerary in the computer system and issue your boarding passes easily.

A lot of airlines will let you web check. You can check yourself in online up to 24 hours in advance. You boarding passes will print on your computer. If you are checking bags though, its a waste to do that.

Otherwise print your itinerary and just show your ID at the counter at the airport. You should be able to print that itinerary at any time. Having the itinerary printed is highly recommended, computers can go out and there can be glitches in the system.

You can print out your itinerary and bring it to the airport. It will have your confirmation number on it. Be sure to bring the credit card that you used to purchase the ticket.

With an e-ticket you won't have a paper ticket. That's the whole point. You just check in at the gate, they'll verify your ID, and give you your boarding pass.
