Could also be a hormone problem or vitamin definciancy/diet issues...possibly zinc. Or at the worst it could be mange...No you cannot use frontline every month...it can be harmful, or can you use any other flea/tic treatment at the same time. Once every three months should do it. Check with the vet to save the wee dog any further discomfort.

What sort of dog is it?
Lots of breeds can get skin issues just like humans, eczema etc. Have you been to the vet with him? Any flaky skin or white dots? If he has white dots he might have 'walking dandruff' which is easily treated. It may be he is allergic to the frontline even...
Get the vet to check him out, put your mind at rest = )

Your dog has allergies. You don't give a size of your dog, but I have a 2 90 pound labs. They get 50 mg (regular adult dose) of Benadryl 3-4 times a day.
If this doesn't work, try another antihistamine.
Your vet can prescribe prednisone, but it is not good to use long term but worth a try.

He may have tics. They go beneath the surface of the skin. Or maybe its a form of eczema. You should take him to the vet.
