Would it be sensible for Britain to have no deterrent?

The USA only invades countries without nukes, so it would be a bad idea right now, we should develop our our own, and not rely on USA made (and controlled) ones.

We already have nukes.I am also a big believer in stopping other countries that don't have nukes from getting them.The more countries that have nukes the higher chance of nuclear war.
I also don't agree when people say "well we have nukes so everyone should be allowed to have them".
was it 2 yrs ago that the north Korean leader ordered his people to build underground bunkers and stock them with supplies?.
It will be another big mistake in history when some fool decides to push the button.
NO TO NUKES!!! and Nuclear power plants too!!

It isn't a deterrent. UK's out-of-date nuclear arsenal couldn't be mobilised without the USA's assistance anyway. There are far better ways to spend that money.

Uhhhhh folks The UK has it's own set of Nukes that are under it's own control. Home grown and Home made. The UK was a huge part of the American Manhattan project and took the knowledge with it.
