Yup, 3400-3600 calories is roughly one pound. So not eating one 350 calorie desert would theoretically lose a pound of weight every 10 days or so. Your body is not a car engine as your metabolism is not constant. So, the numbers are somewhat relative. Add exercise too a decreased caloric intake will increase weightloss because you are using up your energy stores faster than dieting alone. Increasing you muscle mass will help trim you down because a lean muscle takes up less space than fat, and muscle tissue uses much, much more energy than fat cells.
