The homeowners association sets the "rules" of the complex. You would have to read the terms set forth in the agreement which you pay a monthly fee for.

To me it would be about as spacious and private as living in a can of sardines. If you're really serious about it, ask the principals involved. Co-ops differ in nature, and so do the rules. Basically, you'll need a cooperative spirit, be willing to share the load financially and by the sweat of your brow, stay out of trouble and don't cause any. I get claustrophobia just thinking about it, but I wish you luck.

The co-op should be disclosing them up front, when you buy in.
