I was just wondering so I could start doing it for my workout. And how far do they usually run?

For the Army there is no pull-ups in the PT test.
Push ups.
Running.
Sit-ups.
If you are a guy...work on your SIT-UPS!
Guys have a tough time with sit-ups, the girls will kick your butt in sit ups.
It's that stomach muscle thing for child-bearing.
I once did a 102 in 2 minutes in a PT test, and that wasn't the battalion record either.
In the Army you can never do enough sit-ups, male or female.
I could be wrong, but for guys I think it was like 40 in 2 minutes.
As for push-ups, I remember when the girls only had to do 17 in 2 minutes.
For the guys it was too much more, but it' not something you really need to worry about.
Push-ups is ALL you will be doing for 3 months!
Push-ups to eat.
Push-ups to go to the john.
Push-ups to go to bed.
As for the run, it is a mile....somewhere under 10 minutes.
No biggie either.
When you aren't doing push-ups, you are running.
I've seen chubby 5 ft tall girls do it.
You'll run a mile in formation in under 8 minutes.

Work on your upper body strength, sit-ups, and your stamina, more than speed.
Speed is not necessary, stamina is everything.
Good luck!

Everyone here is wrong, and "Dd" is a knucklehead.

How many push ups and sit ups must be done, and how fast you must run your 1.5 miles (or whatever your branch sets as the distance - the USAF distance is 1.5 miles) depends on how old you are and your gender. The younger you are the more sit ups/push ups you have to do. For the USAF, you have one minute for push ups, one minute for sit ups, and your run time is set at a certain time for maximum points, and the points decrease the longer you take. You also have to weigh in and have your waistline measured for your body composition score. Men have more push ups/sit ups to do and less time to run than women. You can access the website for the branch of service you are interested in and it will have links or information about that branch's physical fitness tests.

I would recommend, as a starting point, (keep in mind I'm speaking for a man's PT test) you should be able to do at least 50 push ups in a minute, at least 50 sit ups in a minute, and should be able to run 1.5 miles in 9 minutes or less. If you can do that, you will be able to pass the test. If you have to do more sit ups/push ups, you can always gut out a few more to max you PT points, but you'll be in good shape already from training to get to this point.

As stated before, it depends on the branch. For the Army, the requirements are as follows:

Males:
17 push-ups in one minute
17 sit-ups in one minute
1 mile run in 8:30

Females:
3 push-ups in one minute
17 sit-ups in one minute
1 mile run in 10:30

Though, when it comes to basic, you do the 2-2-2, which is two minutes each of sit-ups and push-ups, and a 2 mile run.

Just start running a lot, and work on your muscles. Most branches focus on abs and biceps, but the Marines focus on abs and triceps. They do more crunches and pull-ups.

Depends on branch of service, male or female and age. Go to website for the branch of service you are training for. Or ask your recruiter thats his job.

it depends on your branch, age and gender. you can google pt test preparation or some variation of that to get a work out program for you. i think one by an author named "stew" is pretty good for beginners.

FOR THE MARINES:
FOR GUYS
MAX OF 20, MIN OF 3 PULL UPS
MAX OF 100, MIN OF 40 SIT UPS
3 MILE RUN (ANYTHING UNDER 18 MINUTES DOESN'T MATTER AND ANYTHING OVER 28 MINUTES AND YOU FAIL.)

FOR GIRLS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE FLEXED ARM HAND. THEY HAVE TO HANG FOR ABOUT A MINUTE WITHOUT LETTING THERE ARMS FULLY EXTEND.

It depends; you have to start at a low number and do a litlle bit more everyday; to train yourself. When they MAKE you drop, it could be 10-20.
