2.1 billion, according to a study published in 2001.
Some of those are probably "lapsed" though.

Don't Christians overestimate their existance?!
Look at the major centres of population and check the predominant religion...
Africa - imposed Christianity in some areas, but fast disappearing
China and most of SE Asia - very small minority of Christians
Indian sub-continent - a mixed bag but very few Christians
Europe - increasingly secular, a diminishing number of Christians
Europe also has the largest number and proportion of irreligious, agnostic and atheistic people in the Western world, with a particularly high number of self-described non-religious people in Scandinavia (Wikipedia)
South America - Christianity in general, Hinduism, and Islam, some Judaism.
North America - diminishing Christianity in Canada...that just leaves the Americans....enough said...
You'd be lucky to find more than a few hundred million practising Christians in the world...must be a bitter pill to swallow...you're being phased out.

- Roman Catholics: 1,105 million
- Reformed Protestants: 465 million - The 1996 Book of the Year of the Encyclopedia Britannica reports the total number of Protestants worldwide as 465 million... but reports another 276 million who mostly call themselves Christian-Protestants, but they are not considered so by the 465 mainline Protestants, because the gross errors they have: For example, the "Jehovah's Witnesses" say that Jesus Christ is not God; the "Mormons" say that Jesus Christ is God as much as you and I are God; for the "Moonies", Moon is more God that Jesus Christ; the "Christian Science" of Mary Baker denies the divinity of Jesus and his redemption on the Cross; the "Children of God" talk about a God very sexy, and the Holy Spirit is painted as an almost nude prostitute...
- Others of those 276 million are so much involved in divination, magic, and astrology, that they are not considered Christians by the mainline Protestants, even though they may adore Christ.

That number is one of those "impossible to nail down" figures that can be fluctuated by what political/religious agenda the website in question has. I've seen the 2.1 billion mark (2005) but it was a Pro-Christian website. Just as I've seen Pro-Atheist websites massively inflate their numbers beyond all other sources, I'm skeptical the number is that high.

that would be hard to answer since many give themselves that name and do not follow the doctrine of christianity. Then there are those who believe but are not changed....so are they christians? LDS and Jehovas like to call themselve christian although they follow a different doctrine. So 1st you have to clearly state the defination to accurately count the numbers.

Like a mustard seed...Jesus is only one seed, he had to go into the soil and die to create a plant....and the mustard plant keeps growing and growing
He did the most important thing a seed could ever do, die so that there may be a plant, so my answer is more every second. PS not all of them are pushy, and those that are just dont want to see you burn. We love you
Thank you Holy Spirit......thanks asker and good question! Bless you
