Really, what is the fuss about? Isn't it like another version of windows, like many others (3x, 95, 98, XP and others)? I mean, some new features, some new looks? Or is it something radical and revolutionary? Huh? Will I really need to immediatelly get a Vista-capable computer?

No, you won't need to get it immediately but you will need to get it eventually. For instance, there is going to be no DirectX 10 for Windows XP so you will need to get Vista if you end up buying a program that requires DirectX 10... then there is the issue of the enhanced GUI, I like eye candy so that is definitely an attraction for me and there is also the case of the questionable enhanced security, many early reviews have found the security policies to be more annoying than useful and turned them off... and ended up running as admins just because it kept asking for a password every time they tried to make a system change.

The answer is, you won't need it right away... but you will need it eventually, when that is can only be determined by you and which programs you wish to use... note some XP programs may not run under Vista due to it's newer code base. Most should run fine but some will no doubt have problems. Such as every single anti-virus currently on the market... had trouble running under Vista... (all the vendors are working on Vista compatible solutions)

I could go on and on but that should give you an idea. On the other hand, a clean install (including most of the drivers) took about 25 minutes on a sufficiently equipped system.

No, you don't need to switch to Vista or get a Vista compatible computer. Vista is good, it is a very welcomed up grade to XP.

XP was a good operating system, but like everything in the computer world, it needs to be upgraded. There are a lot of security fixes, lot of new things that will help you work more 'productively'. There are also a lot of bells and whistles and a lot of eye candy, for which you will need a pretty decent computer.. but if you don't plan to go out and buy Vista as soon as it comes out, don't worry about it.

No you will not need to immediatelly get a Vista-Capable computer. Vista is suppossedly supposed to be a new kind of operating system. I've heard that the programing is supposed to be closed so that no one can view the programing codes and create viruses for it. People will eventually figure out a way but for now if it stops viruses for a little while its ok. Hopefully Microsoft ends up closing the programing so no Viruses can be created for it.

Check these sites out: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/features/default.mspx
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_Vista

There will always be new operating systems on the way, there are alot of new features alot of new looks. Vista in my opinion will be an evolution rather than a revolution. And unfortunenatly this is the way software is going. On the up side, it will take a few years until Vista will be the main stream operating system, so you don't have to jump on the band-wagon just yet but if you did want to jump on the band wagon, here are the minimum spec your PC has to be to accept VIsta: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/capable.mspx

Apart from the graphics card majority of home users should have something alone those lines (more or less).

Hope this helps.

Nothing is really special about it, it's just the new verison of windows like you said and it will just be like the transition from 95 to 98 and 98 to xp, ect...

I don't think you will need vista anytime soon.

Well only thing i like about Vista is that it is highly customizable.
And it is far from being popular now. It needs more improvements, like security upgrades. And yes its like (windows 98,XP,etc.)
