Americans think that the world revolves around them. It is unfashionable to be able to speak more than one language. It is unfashionable to be smart. I wonder how many American learn Spanish before visiting Mexico.???

due because it was founded by all the people in the world who hated their limited liberty countries and came in search of freedom democracy and equality. but the dominant ones are english and spanish. Spanish being the second speaking languaje because Half of the USA use to belong to mexico... that's the reason theres a lot cities (also states) named in spanish.

I´m Belgian and I live in Monterrey/Mexico. I speak spanish fluently which means I´m integrated. If latin people want to go live to the States, they should learn the language of the land or be ejected.
Soy Belga y vivo en MTY. Hablo español perfectamente lo que significa que estoy integrado. Si los latinos quieren ir a vivir en los Estadsos Unidos, deberian aprender el idioma oficial si no quieren ser expulsados.

I thoroughly agree with the expression "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". So when in Mexico, I always speak Spanish. Likewise when Mexicans are in the US, they should speak English. We each have national languages and customs that should be respected by visitors. Thank you for bringing it up.

amen to that. if we r so worried about hispanics coming to america already able to speak and write english, then we should be able to speak and write spanish when we go to a hispanic country, not just mexico. if not, then most americans would be hypocrites. naturally they would never admit to it, but they would be. shoot, i know if i was to go to mexico or whatever, i would be screwed. i took 3 years of spanish in school and dont remember hardly any of it. :(

Where did you get the incredible stupid idea that *anyone* in the US would want to talk to mexicanos that live in Mexico. In the first place who would want to immigrate to Mexico from the US anyway?
