Try a new Kia, a Chevy Aveo, and maybe a Hyundai Accent. I believe the Accent is the cheapest out there right now, and they're not too bad.

As far as fixing up the Omni, if you really love the car, go for it. But remember a car with a salvage title becomes worth practically nothing if you ever want to sell it.

Well, if you want the cheapest "American made" car out there, it is the Chevy Aveo. But keep in mind it wasnt an American car a couple of years ago.

For the record, even "foreign" cars are now assembled in America(and a large portion of Ford's GM's and Dodges are built in Canada and Mexico)

If you want a car thats going to last and be inexpensive, maybe look into Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, or Nissan Versa. The Chevy Aveo is cheapest, and then the Hyundai Accent, but I think in the longrun those two won't have as many good features or last as l;ong as the other three.

I have been looking into these cars recently, as I am buying one in a month or so, and I am going Yaris or Versa.

Go to KBB.com and look at the reviews on them all. It has been a great help to me!

Good luck!

Depending on how bad your omni is, you may be able to fix it. You can get a salvage title changed, so you can put the car back on the road, but it is alot of hassle. If you can afford a new car, that would be the way to go. check on the Hyundai's they have like a ten year and 100,000 mile warranty with them. That's the way i'm going in the spring. I have bought GM cars all my life, but the warranty's on them suck........ I hear some of the new GM's do have the better warranty, I'm not sure yet.....
