Am I in love, or do I love him as a brother?

I have two younger sisters. Though I love being the oldest, I've always wondered what it would be like to have an older brother. I'm in eighth grade. There's this guy who comes to my school and helps out in band. He's a senior and he loves music. The girls in my grade think he's hot. I agree with them, but I don't think I like him the same way they do. We are both very passionate about music and we have a lot in common, even though we don't play the same instrument. He and I have developed a friendship over the past two months. Some of the other girls think I have a silly crush on him (like they do.) All the girls are practically drooling over him because he's good-looking, and the fact that he's older is attractive to them. People tell me I'm mature beyond my age. I like him because of his personality, not his looks, though it helps. The other girls are 1) too shy to talk to him, or 2) OBVIOUS flirts. How embarrassing! I think they're jealous of me because I can talk to

him normally, without getting all gaga over him. He's everything I ever imagined that I would want my big brother to be. I have lunch after band, and my band teacher has lunch duty during that time, so I skip lunch and eat when I get home instead. This boy has ten minutes between the time band ends and he has to be in his next class, so I come and talk to him and we hang out in those ten minutes. We would both get in HUGE trouble if my teacher found out,_but_he_wouldn't_get_in_as_much_trouble_as_I_would.__I_hugged_him_once.__The_only_other_person_that_knows_is_my_bff,_because_she_was_there_when_it_happened.__((She_doesn't_have_a_crush_on_him.)__It_was_like_a_little_sister_hug,_not_a_gf.__We_have_a_kind_of_special_bond.__I_love_him,_and_I_don't_think_I'm_in_love_with_him,_but_how_do_I_know_I'm not just like my infatuated classmates?

That is good that you are looking at him in a much more mature light then the other girls. But still, being in 8th grade and him a senior, I would guess that he was more of an older brother you've never had. I have felt the same way! I am the oldest in my family and I don't understand it when other kids complain about their older brothers since i really would love to have one. Plus, if the case were that you loved him not as a brother...that would be a little difficult to have a relationship with someone 5 years older and one who is oging to college next year!! But make this relationship as friends last and its good to look up to him as an older brother!

It sounds to me like you are in 8th grade,and experiencing lust for a SENIOR! He is 17 or 18 years old. He probably has a girlfriend, and if he doesn't, he could do better than an 8th grader. It sounds like you dont like him as a boyfriend OR a brother, you just have a crush on him. There are LAWS against legal adults dating kids. Youre a kid. He will be turning 18 if he isn't already. Why not just let him KNOW how you feel and see how hard he laughs!

It sounds like you do like him. You both share so much in common. The only thing I can suggest is to be straight with him and ask him how he feels about you. If he says I like you like my sister or bestfriend. And it upsets u then u really do like him more than a brother. But if it doesn't bother u at all then u probably do just look at him like ur brother. The fact that u skip lunch just to be able to chat with him. Sounds like u have more than just sister to brother feeling. This will all depend on ur conversation with him. GOOD luck

i am in almost the same situation. i think really it depends. u guys seem like u could be in a good relationship. u have simularities but not perfect(thats good). right now ur relationship seems to to be bro and sis, but only looking at you it might be love. you seem very mature(ppl say that about me to) so u might just be in love because u dont fool ur self.but plz keep in mind he is probably 17 or 18

i have friends i like as brothers so i know wut u mean and i'm also the oldest of 2 sisters but 1 brother and i'm also in the 8th grade but i was in ur sitch once 2 depends make a list why u like him as a bro then a list why u like like him wich have stronger resons wich sond better then u might not of totaly desided but ur like 2 steps closer but i think he is 2 old but my opnyon tell him how u feal see hoe he reacts but i really don't think it will work

are you anxious when you know it's time to see him? What I mean is do you feel like you are starving when you are around him? that feeling is butterflies. If so you may be falling for him.
