I always get a headache even if I only drink 1 glass, both red and white. Other alcohol doesn't bother me. And no its not a hangover. What could be in it that triggers this. I eat grapes as well.

Yes, it is sulphites/sulphides. It sounds as though you've been very unlucky at picking wines,or you are more sensitive than most to sulphites.sulphides.
Sulphides are a necessary component in winemaking.Vinters use sulphide to "stabilize" a wine, especially through its aging process.Sulphides occur naturally in wine as it is pulled from the earth & into the grapevine.sulphides/sulphate is actually trace amounts of the mineral sulphur. The Europeans and Americans have limits as to how much a vinter can put into a bottle, usually not over 200 ppm.
Again, the vinter may put in more than occurs naturally to help the wine as it ages if they feel its too delicate.
Try finding an organic wine,or a low sulphate wine, but again there may still be trace amounts from natural growth.
Sparkling wines & blush wines have less sulphite in them from the start so that may be an option for you.
Good luck, hope this helps !

Yes, I can get headaches, particularly from red wine. I've been told that it could be from chemicals added to the wine (sulfites) so I now religiously read labels! If a red wine is rather "rough" I'll also get an ache behind each ear (lymph nodes, I think, which are filtering what the wine maker didn't).
With white wines, it seems to depend on the sugar so I avoid anything the least bit sweet (no German Rhine wines for me!).
Lately we've been drinking South African and Australian wines, both red and white...and so far, my head's been O.K.
I believe that it's the process and/or the possible additives which trigger the headaches. Eating grapes has never caused anything adverse.

This is a simple one. People drink wine because it makes ugly girls better looking. This effect also works in reverse for example I am about a 9.5 on a scale of 10 but If a girl is drunk on wine she thinks that I am a 9.6 or even a 9.7.

I get headaches when I drink wine too, but not from anything else- and I'm a straight whiskey drinker. Maybe it's the way that it's fermented or something... it's some rank stuff

Sulfites!!

Yes me too... I am 41 and still cant drink wine without a headache, SO I dont

You are one of Millions who are sensitive to the High Levels of Sulfites that occur in wine.

They can also be found in healthy numbers in Dried Fruits as well but nothing like they are in Wines.

Do some rearch on things with high Sulfite levels and trry to avoid them. you have far less headaches in life

Good Luck

Sulphites

Try an organic wine or one with the label "no added sulphites" All wines contain sulphites but the ones with no added sulphites contain much less. It is a common reaction to sulphites to have a headache
