What does a protein bar do? does it make you buff? does it make you fat if you don't work out? when is the best time to eat it? and how many times a day are you supposed to eat it? lol alot of questions but ty for answering them =)

Protein bars can be used in two ways between meals for a protein snack or before or after a workout for added protein, but before or after a workout you'd be better off with a liquid protein along with carbohydrates. I just use whey plus a banana or mixing whey with orange juice would be even better.

Good time to eat protein bar is during your workout so it will give up more energy to finished your workout. Protein bars dont make u buff. You should eat a protein bar when you are physically active. Protein bar is like an candy bar but more healthier for you.

Protein is used by your muscle tissue to build up your muscles. If you flood your body with protein, any protein not taken up by your muscles (ie what they need) is essentially the same as fat in your diet.

If you're not active and/or lifting weights, then your muscles have no extra need for protein and thus the protein bar doesn't serve much of a purpose.

That said, you need so much protein in your daily diet, and if you're falling short of that, a protein bar could help. But that's probably not the case.

In short, if you're not exercising - chances are that the protein bar becomes a candy bar.

You normally want to in take protein about thirty minutes prior to your workout and up until 1 hour after your workout. Many people believe that in order to put on muscle weight, you must take in as many grams of protein as your weight. For example, if you weigh 160 lbs. you should take in 160 g of protein. Beware though, when you in take alot of protein, you will have more bowel movements and be more gassy all of the time. Also, if you in take all of this protein and you do not workout, you will be putting on fat. Ensure that you have a good workout regime that enables you to workout at least 5 times a week. Ensure that you are also doing cardio to aide in lean muscle building.

Protein bars are fad. Just a trick to get your money. You can get the same benefit from eating regular food.
The energy you get is from sugar, just as in any regular candy bar. Don't be conned!

it eat before a work out...that gives you the best results...dont eat a protein bar and do nothing...yess you will get fat...

My nutritionist recommended eating one daily 1/2 hour before exercising. She said that it gives you energy to workout longer without feeling empty.
